Spoilers for Deltarune Chapter 3. Click away if you care for that!

FUCK ME IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO BEAT THAT BOSS HOLY SHIT

I have NO clue how I beat it this time. I reached the final attack with both Kris and Ralsei down, Susie on 3/4ths of her healthbar, and all my healing items burnt through. I MADE IT THROUGH BY SHEER LUCK AND MAGIC. And also like 4~ hours of repeatedly running into the 5 Ton SUV that was The Roaring Knight’s sword. But that last one is just a coincidence.

To anyone who’s reading and doesn’t know what the fuck I’m talking about - at the end of Deltarune’s third chapter there is a boss you’re meant to lose against in a normal run. It’s a boss fight meant to show how much more powerful your ultimate enemy is compared to the party. However, if you’re doing one of the alternative runs, you are able to not get one-shot by the bosses attacks. Sure, the boss is still nightmareishly hard, but you can at least not instantly die.

And, of course, beating this boss is required if you want to continue the alternative run and collect all of the Shadow Crystals.

I have spent like 4 different play sessions just on this one boss. I’ve spent more time just on this fight than I’ve given some entire games.

Was it worth it? Honestly not really. I’m not a big fan of uber difficult challenges unless I’m already well-invested into the mechanics of the game, and to beat this boss you have to use the combat mechanics. If you were on a pacifist run prior to that point, tough tiddy, get your guns out. I was doing a pacifist run. I did it because the game’s lore is really interesting and many of my friends are into it, so I thought it’d be worth it.

But CHRIST it took a while. I’m not very good at bullet hells.

Still, proud of myself and not about to sour my own experience over it. Hell yeah.
