Well this sucks.

I woke up this morning to a message in my email acc saying Discord have found me acting against their child safety policy. I was fairly alarmed by this and decided to go look at what it was that my acc was flagged for. Did I get hacked and someone used my account? Did some message I send get caught up in a similar fiasco to the Marvel Rivals skin that was discord banning everyone?

Well, none of that, actually. Turns out what got me banned is a message I sent two years ago wherein I… [squints at email]… say that pedophilia is bad.

No I’m serious.

This isn’t the first strike against my account as of recent, nor is it the first strike that took place 3+ years ago. The other strike I got was describing the guilty gear character “Sin Kiske” as “a beautiful 1 year old.” This also violated child safety. For reference, Sin Kiske looks like this:

That one I could see some argument for, considering Anime Bullshit(TM) makes it so sin is only 5 years old¹ so that would fall under the umbrella, fine, but banning me for saying that pedophilia is bad? Really? I sent them an appeal, and got a fairly quick response saying they stand by the decision, so I assume it was automated and wasn’t looked at by a human. This also means that until a human looks at it, I’m banned from discord for the next four years. Which sucks, to say the least.

I’ve already been thinking of making a fallback option incase discord goes tits up or just enshittifies to hell and back, considering their addition of pointless new features and soon adding ads, and this will probably speed up the process. In the meanwhile, I’ll annoy my friends through Steam Messenger, the Tumblr Chat, and/or email.
